Coimabatore Mappilai is a 1996 Tamil romantic comedy movie written and directed by C. Ranganathan and produced by M.S.V Murali under the banner of Sreelakshmi Movieland. The 162 minute film was made at a budget of 2.3 crore rupees and was released on the
independence day(15 January 1996) during a
pongal period. The film starring Vijay and
Sanghavi in the lead roles was a hit at the box office. The movie was later dubbed in Hindi as Rampuri Damaad.
