COIMBATORE MAPPILAI


Coimabatore Mappilai is a 1996 Tamil romantic comedy movie written and directed by C. Ranganathan and produced by M.S.V Murali under the banner of Sreelakshmi Movieland. The 162 minute film was made at a budget of 2.3 crore rupees and was released on the independence day(15 January 1996) during a pongal period. The film starring Vijay and Sanghavi in the lead roles was a hit at the box office. The movie was later dubbed in Hindi as Rampuri Damaad.

MUSIC
The film comprises of five songs. The songs were composed by Vidyasagar. Lyrics were written by Vaali and P.R.C Balu.


STORYLINE
The story begins with the hero Balu, coming to the coimbatore city to stay with his friend who lives in the rented house of Sumithra. Though his friend is jobless he claims that he has a job. Though Balu and Sumithra was initially in fight, their fights turn into love. Meanwhile Mahesh, Sumithra's cousin also has an eye on her.
One day Balu tries to catch a theif who stole a necklace, but unfortunately the theif cheats Balu and he was blamed for stealing the necklace. Mahesh takes advantage of this chance and Sumithra starts hating Balu. Mahesh then creates many situations against Balu. Vijay then explains his innocence to Sumithra's grandmother. Patti believes him but Mahesh take revenge by making patti paralyzed. In the hospital Sumithra overhears that Mahesh and his father wants to kill Sumithra to steal her properties. Meanwhile Balu tries to suicide but Sumithra saves him. Mahesh gets killed in a stampede. The climax shows the hero and heroine living happily.
