Maanbumigu Maanavan is an action film directed by S.A Chandrasekhar and produced by Municam Narayanan. The story was written by Vijay's mother Shoba Chandrasekhar. The money spent for the making of this 139 minute film was around 2.3 crore rupees. The film was made under the banner of 7th Channel Communication. The songs were composed by Deva. The film was released on 12 April, 1996 with Vijay and newcomer Swapna Bedi in the lead roles.

STORYLINE
The film deals with the story of some friends in a collage. Shiva is the hero of the gang and have a good time with his friends until two of his friends fall in love with each other. Facing strong opposition from the girl's father the gang joins and get the coupled married. But the girl gets badly raped and killed in the collage campus by Madhan, the son of a politician. Unable to get justice from the court due to the strong influence of the politician, Shiva along with his friends decides to take revenge on his friend's death. Meanwhile Shiva's mother gets killed by the politician. The story ends up with Shiva killing Madhan and his father.
